Exercise - side B - process description

Welcome to the fourth week.

Fourth week is starting with more complex drawing. First version of side A is combining ellipses to define rotating objects with different silhouettes. First you need to define a silhouette. Than you start define axis and start than you start placing ellipses on axis whose defines a surface of the object.

Version B of the sheet A is a little bit easier, because is still working in "2D" space. The key is the symmetry. You start with an ellipse. Than you place another ones according to the enclosed picture. At the end you prove the symmetry of the drawn ellipses with two circles (one on the outside of the object and another in the inside).

Side B is about surface, that is defined by a couple of curves. You start with placing a few curves on the paper. Than you need to think about how those curves defines a surface. Than you start placing section lines. I did one version with shading so you can see how this progresses further. Keep in mind that you need to think before you draw.

Recommended number of practise sheets : 20x A3 (cardesigner at least 30x)
- side A can be done either in version A or version B

Good luck in your progress.

Welcome to the third week.

Third week is about improving the skill of drawing a straight line. Now we will be aiming the direction of the line. The best way to do that is to create a couple of point rows on a sheet of paper. Than pick one couple of point and try to draw a straignt line, that goes through both points. Do it freehand. Good idea is rotating the paper to your most suitable position and then trying a couple of times to stroke above points in the air not touching the surface so your hand gets the feeling of direction.

Second sheet is more about dynamics of the line. Try to draw a line that has a change in thickness. That gives a line a character. Try to do it in all directions while keeping the paper in the same horizontal direction. I put lines on paper that creates those interesting ornaments. It is due to fact that I was contingently changing the angle and placement of lines.

Another nice ornament to work on is a star. Wit that ornament you need to keep the center of those dynamic lines on the same place, which is a tricky task. Again - do NOT rotate the paper. Let your hand work in all directions.

Recommended number of practise sheets : 20x A3 (cardesigner at least 50x)
- side B can be done either in version A or version B

Good luck in your progress.
